What is Viscose Filament?

Viscose Filament Yarn is produced from cellulose derived from premium wood pulp. These are the most significant properties of Viscose Filament:

Its exceptional drapability makes it an ideal choice for creating flowing garments like dresses, skirts, and blouses. Its ability to absorb dyes beautifully allows for a wide range of colours and prints, making it a designer’s dream. Additionally, Viscose Filament Yarn can be blended with other yarns to enhance properties. For instance, combining it with cotton creates a fabric that is both soft and absorbent.

 

As a plant-based fibre, Viscose Rayon is highly absorbent & highly breathable – ideal for high-quality garments where breathability is essential for ease. Viscose Rayon also prevents sweat marks by absorbing it into tiny micropores in the fibres themselves – locking it away.’

 

How to care for my Viscose Rayon garment?

‘Clothes made of Viscose Rayon can be washed in temperatures of up to 40° C – but since Viscose does tend to shrink at high temperatures, we recommend you strictly follow the washing temperature as indicated on the wash care label inside the product. Do not tumble dry Viscose – it dries very quickly. We recommend shaking the wrinkles out & hanging it out to dry.’

 

Does Viscose Rayon shrink & bleed colour?

‘As it is a natural fabric – you should expect your Viscose Rayon garment to shrink a bit during the first wash. If you follow the specific garment’s wash care instructions, you should not have any challenges.’

 

Why is Viscose Rayon clothing more expensive?

‘Viscose is no longer a cheap fabric as it is imported & subject to large duties, so clothes made from it can sometimes cost more than linen or cotton.’
